A Dania Beach legend, Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor has been at the same location making homemade ice cream on the premisis since the mid-1950's.
Possibly the best banana splits in South Florida (ask for the extra fudge) and the portions are huge - great for sharing. Jaxson's was recently been featured on the Food Network's Top Five as the Top Cool Quencher.

A long-time Miami institution Walls is tucked away in the Coral Gables/ South Miami area. All the ice cream is made there and their flavors are delicious. Not sure what to get? Why not start with a brownie sundae; a huge warm brownie topped with two scoops of ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, and whatever toppings. Walls is also know for its homemade fudge and their old fashioned floats.

Serving up fresh homemade ice cream and sorbet since 1987, the Frieze has developed quite following over the years. Just recently, they opened up a second location in the Plantation Towne Square strip shopping center. What can we say - everything is creamy, homemade, and really, really tasty. Not sure what to get and feeling a bit adventurous - try a scoop of the cappuccino chip with chocolate sprinkles.

Okay, so we slipped in a chain place but if you haven't been to a Maggie Moo's (there are dozens of locations across South Florida) we have no idea what you are waiting for. The ice cream, made fresh in every location, is not only crazy good but it also comes in some wild flavors that you can mix with your favorite fixin's like brownies, Snickers pieces, carmel or whatever. Maggie Moo's invented the ice cream cupcake, as featured on Food Network and the ice cream pizza!

Hand scooped goodness in a cone. Whip n' Dip usually has about 10 tubs of hand dipped ice cream (flavors rotate based on what they've recently made). They also have half a dozen machines that pump out soft-serve "whips", all of which are light or sugar-free light. Just a word of warning - seating is limited to four picnic benches and the place is cash only.
