Looking to boost the holiday spirit this year? Check out one of the many holiday shows being performed on stages throughout South Florida -- from the traditional Nutcracker ballet to the awe-inspiring acrobatic feats by Cirque du Soleil. Here are the best holiday shows South Florida has to offer.

Enchanting audiences year after year, the Miami City Ballet dancers twirl, glide and jet across the stage to bring George Balanchine's The Nutcracker to life. With a cast of more than 100, the ballet is a must-see for all ages. The ballet also features dancing flowers, a whirl of brilliant orange, magenta and green just before the arrival of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Ticket prices start at $19.75. The show runs from December 17-23rd at the Adrienne Arsht Center, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL.

KOOZA – the latest show by Cirque du Soleil – features the ooh-and-ahh acrobatic performances audiences have come to expect. This time the story focuses on Kooza – a loner in search of his place in the world. Those seeking the thrill of seeing amazing acrobatic feats are sure to enjoy colorful and limber cast of characters. The show runs until January 2nd, 2011 at Bicentennial Park, 1075 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL 33130.

Steve Solomon – My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish, And I'm Home For The Holidays – is a play that transports audiences to the dysfunctional family home of Steve Solomon. It's a play where those under 55 are allowed to sit at the children's table. It's a home where there are 35 well-fed guests and only one working toilet. Tickets range from $25 to $35. The play runs from Dec. 17th through the 19th at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts Amaturo Theatre, 201 SW 5th Ave, Ft Lauderdale, FL.

 Handel's Messiah sells out each year as audiences listen intently to the melodic voices of Seraphic Fire and performances by the Firebird Chamber Orchestra. It features the popular "Hallelujah" Chorus. It's become a Miami tradition and the show has been selling out for centuries. Tickets range from $150 to $15. The performance is one-night only on December 18th at the Adrienne Arsht Center's Knight Concert Hall, 1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL.

The traditional tale by Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol has been turned into a musical adaption and follows the life of Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited by four ghosts who show him a glimpse of his future if he doesn't change his ways. The play is performed every Saturday until January 1, 2011 at The Showtime Performing Arts Theater, 503 SE Mizner Blvd. Suite 73 Boca Raton, FL 33432. Tickets range from $14 for adults and $10 for children.
