Top Dive Bars In Miami

When you looking for a night out in South Florida and want to leave all the posers and glitz behind - you need an old fashioned dive bar where the music is hot and beer is cold. If you don't want one of those places where people go to be seen, and you just want a place you can hang out and have a good time then check out these top picks.

Churchill's Pub

5501 NE 2nd Ave
Miami, FL 33137
(305) 757-1807
www.churchillspub.com
First off it's not in a great part of town, secondly it can get really, really hot inside and they also charge a cover.  But if you can deal with those three things, Churchill's is definitely worth a visit.  The music varies from really good to just so-so since it's mostly local bands.  There are also artists there on certain nights creating their works. Monday nights they have a Jazz jam.

Barracuda Raw Bar & Grill

3035 Fuller St
Miami, FL 33133
(305) 448-1144
(On Fuller Street just west of Main Highway)
Billing themselves as the "Last Bastion of Sanity in the Grove" Barracuda has been a Coconut Grove staple for more than a decade.   Most nights its packed with UM students playing beer pong.  In addition to the traditional bar food staples, Barracuda offers a fresh fish catch of the day which can be prepared four different way. The beer selection is really good including microbrews.

Tobacco Road

626 S Miami Ave
Miami, FL 33130
(305) 579-2198
www.tobacco-road.com
If you're a South Floridian this place is legendary for having some of the best local bands in town.  If you're new to the area, you have to check it out if you love rock, blues or jazz.  Tobacco Road is one of the oldest bars in Miami.  It's small on the inside and kinda dingy but when the bands get to rockin' it can feel like one of the best house parties you went to.

Transit Lounge

729 SW 1st Ave
Miami, FL 33130
(305) 377-4628
www.transitlounge.us
The Transit Lounge is a pretty cool dive bar with reasonable prices on drinks (although some of the beers can be a bit pricey) and a cast of characters that love to party all night long.  When a live band isn't playing, they have a DJ that plays some great old school jams.  On Friday and Saturday nights the crowd turns a little younger as they show up to support their favorite local bands.

Ted's Hideaway

124 2nd St
Miami Beach, FL 33139
(305) 532-9869
www.myspace.com/66072747
Ted's Hideaway is a very casual unpretentious hangout with cheap drinks just do yourself a favor and avoid the bathrooms if you can - they can get disgusting at times. The staff, all female bartenders, are very nice and efficient.  Beer prices are pretty goodfor Miami Beach and they do have a limited menu.
