Bengals Lose Star DT In Miami Game
MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) - As the Miami Dolphins celebrated a season-saving victory against Cincinnati Thursday night; the Bengals were dealing with a second big loss from the game.
The Bengals lost All-Pro defensive tackle Geno Atkins suffered what is believed to be a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the second quarter of the game.
Atkins walked off the field with assistance from teammates, but was carted off the field and was on crutches after the game.
"It stinks because he's one of the best," defensive tackle Domata Peko said. "We'll keep him in our prayers, and Bengals Nation, please keep him in your prayers also."
Atkins was rapidly turning into the top defensive tackle in the league and was just one month removed from signing a $56 million extension with the team in September.
The former Georgia Bulldog came into the game with Miami with five sacks and added one more in the first quarter before getting hurt.
