Beckham Back At Cheeseburger Baby
MIAMI BEACH (CBSMiami) – David Beckham is back in South Florida, ahead of his highly anticipated news conference about bringing a Major League Soccer expansion team to Miami. But before the big announcement, the retired soccer star hit up what appears to be one of his favorite South Beach restaurants, Cheeseburger Baby.
Living like a Miami local already, this was the third time Beckham has chowed down on a Cheeseburger Baby burger in recent visits to South Florida.
The manager of the restaurant said he showed up Monday night and described him as "really nice and humble."
After arriving in South Florida, fresh off his trip to the Super Bowl, Beckham popped in to the restaurant for a quick bite, and he was kind enough to stop for photos with employees. The manager said he stayed for about an hour, had a cheeseburger with everything, a few beers with friends and then signed autographs for customers.
"His personality, he's just a nice guy. He was extremely nice to everyone. Came in, came up, wasn't nasty at all. He just spoke and he had a nice aura, " said Patty Walker who served Beckham.
In the summer of 2013, Beckham visited the same South Beach eatery twice.
The manager said they're considering naming his usual menu item "The Beckham Burger".
"We look forward to seeing him more, now that he's going to be in Miami more, hopefully, we'll see," said Cheeseburger Baby Manager Stephani Vitori.
A big announcement about the future of an MLS expansion team is expected Tuesday night at an invitation-only VIP reception at the Adrienne Arsht Center.
That'll be followed by a news conference Wednesday morning with Beckham, MLS Commissioner Don Garber and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez.
