Bayfront Tree Lighting Illuminates The Sky

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – If you want to see the magic of the holiday season just watch kids' faces while they stare at a 50-foot Christmas tree.

At Bayfront Park Saturday night, dozens of children smiled brightly taking part in the countdown and the lighting of the tree.

"I like how it's really bright and it's really pretty," Allison Iuska told CBS4's Natalia Zea.

"It's big, it has a lot of lights, colors," said Ezechial Sanchez.

The Alvarado family came out to Bayfront Park Saturday night to watch the Christmas tree light up.

Hanna and her sister Sara can't wait for Christmas. For them the best part is, of course the gifts.

"That we get presents!"

Others, like Afsheena Desravins love even more than the gifts.

"To see family and feel the Christmas-y atmosphere and the joy in the air," she told Zea.

We're already talking about Christmas and you probably haven't eaten all your Thanksgiving leftovers yet. Is it too soon? Not according to Alexis Fonseca.

"Thanksgiving- it's the past. Christmas- it's coming. So I'm into Christmas better than Thanksgiving."

Carmen Alvarado was way ahead of the game in the tree department.

"I actually put up my Christmas tree before Thanksgiving....I love Christmas," she said.

When Santa Claus does come to town, Hanna and Sara have just two tiny requests of him.

Sara wants a pony. Hanna wants a unicorn. Good luck Santa.
