Battier's Shooting Woes Continue
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – As the Miami Heat prepare to play six games in eight nights including a back-to-back-to-back series; the Heat will need better play from their bench, specifically from guard/forward Shane Battier.
The first-year Heat player has locked down every player defensively this season, but the former Duke Blue Devil has struggled mightily on offense.
Since January 22, Battier has not scored more than 7 points in a game and has gone scoreless in four of those games.
Since the Heat lost to Milwaukee on January 22, Battier is averaging just 2 points per contest and in the month of February, Battier has yet to score a point or hit a shot.
Still, the Heat has only lost two of those games, coincidentally, both of them to the Bucks.
But Battier's shooting woes have come as both LeBron James and Dwyane Wade took over more of the scoring load since Wade's return.
Since he returned on January 27, Wade is averaging 23 points per game, while LeBron has poured in 28.3 points a night since the first Bucks loss.
So, while Battier's scoring has declined, it's not been a detriment to the Heat.
But, with the Heat about to go on a tough road trip, Battier and Mike Miller have to improve their shooting percentages if the Heat are to weather the coming storm of a road trip.
