Barahona Attorney Wants Evidence Sealed
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) - The attorney for Carmen Barahona has asked a judge to not release evidence in the murder case of her daughter Nubia. Carmen, and her husband Jorge, are both accused of beating Nubia to death.
Carmen's attorney said in his petition that if evidence is released ahead of time, the intense media scrutiny will taint the jury pool and prevent her from receiving a fair trial.
Nubia's body was found in the back of a truck driven by Jorge on Valentine's Day. Nubia's body was partially decomposed and Jorge and his son, Victor, were found in the cab of the truck.
Victor's body was badly burned after Jorge allegedly poured a chemical on the boy. Victor and Jorge were found in a truck along the side of Interstate 95.
The Barahonas have pleaded not guilty to the murder charges. Prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty against both parents..
