Bacterial Meningitis Case Reported At A Miramar Elementary School
MIRAMAR (CBS4) - Parents at a Broward County elementary school are on high alert after a student came down with a case of bacterial meningitis .
Fairway Elementary School sent a letter home to parents warning them after a student was diagnosed.
It's spread by droplets or direct contact with nasal or throat secretions. The incubation period is from two to ten days.
The symptoms include high fever, chills, intense headaches, nausea, vomiting, stiffness in the neck and spine and a rash.
There have been two prior reported cases of bacterial meningitis in Broward County this year.
