Backdoor Pizza Shop Bandits Caught On Camera
WESTON (CBSMiami) – The Broward Sheriff's Office is hoping surveillance video of a couple of pizza shop bandits will help lead to their arrest.
Friday, BSO robbery detectives released video of a Papa John's pizza shop being robbed in Weston.
The robbery took place around 11:30 p.m., August 28 at 50 Indian Trace in Weston.
An unsuspecting employee was surprised when the two suspects, one armed with a gun, entered the business and demanded cash.
"He quickly realizes those two individuals were not there to order their favorite pizza," said BSO Spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright.
The suspects slipped in through an unlocked rear door. One of the suspects grabbed a pizza delivery bag, and at gunpoint, had the general manager place the money inside.
"He complies with their demands," said Coleman-Wright, "and fortunately, he was left unharmed. But the longer that these two individuals stay unidentified, the potential of someone being seriously injured greatly increases."
In this case, the crooks were calm and so was the victim. Investigators are afraid, one day, the suspects will lose their cool.
"Under that kind of pressure, when you have a gun pointed at you, he did a remarkable job," said Coleman-Wright, talking about the victim. "But who's to know the next time they go to rob someone, if that person is afraid and they don't comply or if the suspects become afraid and pull the trigger."
The robbers left the same way they entered, through the back door.
The general manager was alone in the business at the time of the robbery. Nobody was hurt.
