Back-To-School Health Fair Offers Free Immunizations
MIAMI (CBSMiami) — For South Florida families, back-to-school time can get expensive: new clothes, supplies, backpacks. Fortunately, Jackson North Medical Center trimmed one necessary expense: immunizations.
Jackson North Medical Center teamed up with the Miami-Dade County Health Department for a local health fair Saturday. The Miami-Dade County Health Department administered the immunizations:
WHO: Children whose parents bring their immunization record
WHAT: Free immunizations
WHEN: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE: Jackson North Medical Center, 160 Northwest 170th Street in North Miami Beach
Children enjoyed free fingerprinting, certified technicians performed free car-seat safety checks and representatives from poison control distributed information.
Adults received free mammograms, glucose tests, cholesterol tests, blood pressure checks and other screenings. Medical staff gave educational seminars about weight loss surgery and breast health.
The public event also offered cooking demonstrations on healthy meal ideas.
