Baby Shark Latches Onto Woman's Arm At Beach In Boca Raton

BOCA RATON (CBSMiami) -- A stubborn little shark refused to let go of a woman's arm after biting her at the beach.
It happened Sunday afternoon.
When Boca Raton Fire Rescue arrived, they found a 23-year-old woman with a two-foot nurse shark clamped down to her right forearm.
"The shark was apparently on it really, really hard, but I'm glad everything's okay," said Elan Maseri, who saw the woman calmly walk out of the water with the shark stuck to her arm.
The shark had died prior to the crews arrival, however, the shark's jaws were still latched on.
"There was very little blood. She was calm. Good vitals," said Ocean Rescue's Capt. Clint Tracy. "And they secured her to a splint, onto the stretcher, with the shark. And she went to Boca Raton Regional with the shark attached to her arm."
Capt. Tracy said the attack was unusual because nurse sharks are known to be quite docile and stationary. This shark, in particular, is known to stay near the reef.
"It's a shark that's been in our park for some time. And although we have compassion for the victim, we're also sad that this shark is not gonna be there anymore," said Capt. Tracy.
The woman was recovering at the hospital.
