Attorney General: Scott Didn't Know About Ouster Of Top Cop

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Governor Rick Scott did not approve of the abrupt ousting of the head of the state's main law enforcement agency, according to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.
She instead suggested that it was the governor's staff who went ahead and pressed Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Gerald Bailey. Bondi made her comments during the annual legislative planning meeting of The Associated Press.

Bondi told reporters that she has not talked to Scott about the ouster of Bailey. But she said she "knows the man" and doubted he would have authorized forcing Bailey to abruptly resign and clear out his office.
Scott earlier in the day vigorously defended the decision to replace Bailey. His office maintains that no laws were violated in the way that Bailey's ouster was handled.
