Atheists Approved; Satanists Stuck Waiting On Capitol Rotunda Display
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – The atheists are approved but the Satanists must sit and wait a little longer.
The Florida Department of Management Services has approved applications by two groups of atheists to put up displays in the Capitol Rotunda during the holiday season.
The approvals of the atheist groups' proposals comes after the state agreed to allow a private Christian group to put up a nativity scene and another private group to put up a Festivus pole made of empty beer cans.
But, the DMS has not yet approved a request from the Satanic Temple of Tallahassee to put up a 5-foot-by-5-foot poster in the rotunda for the holidays.
The Capitol rotunda also housed a menorah in recent weeks to observe Hanukkah.
