MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Police have arrested two men believed to be behind an armed bank robbery attempt in Miami.
Detectives said Franklin Yamill Cuevas, 32, fired his gun into the air shouting, "this is a robbery" just outside of the Regions Bank at 2800 N.W. 7th Avenue.
While customers hid for cover inside the building, a quick-thinking employee was able to lock the front door before the suspects were able to get inside.
Cuevas then jumped into a car being driven by Kevin Alberto Reyes, 25, according to the arrest report.
Reyes turned himself into police after seeing his face on television, Miami Police said.
He told them he was out drinking with Cuevas and didn't know Cuevas was carrying a gun until he heard him fire the shots outside the bank.
Cuevas faces several charges, including armed robbery with a deadly weapon.
Reyes was charged with being an accessory.
