MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Police have arrested a man they say snatched more than $1,000 in cash from a woman making a bank deposit in Pinecrest.
It happened Monday afternoon shortly before 1:30 p.m. at a Wells Fargo bank in the 11700 block of S. Dixie Highway, according to police.
Authorities say the suspect, who was identified as Brian Kleb, 45, snatched the cash from a woman who was making a deposit and ran out the bank's front entrance.
The woman, identified as Delisa De Valle, was depositing $1,540 in cash when Kleb elbowed her, grabbed the money and ran.
"Pretty brazen," Michelle Hammontree with Pinecrest Police said of the suspect. "He stood by and just watched the lady, waited a few moments and grabbed her money."
Someone who witnessed the scene outside the bank but did not want to be identified described what they saw.
"I saw the lady running with the guys," the witness said. "I say 'what happened, what happened?' She says 'my money, my money, they got my money.'"
Kleb was followed by three bank employees who helped two nearby construction workers pin him down until police arrived.
"When the suspect got outside, two men worked construction pinned him down along with three employees from the bank," said Hammontree.
The entire incident was captured by the bank's security cameras.
Investigators say Kleb's record dates back to 1999 and he was on probation for armed robbery and residential burglary.
He's been charged with what police call sudden snatching.
Kleb was given a $5000 bond and a new charge to add to his lengthy criminal history.
"He has a rap sheet that goes back to 1999," said Hammontree. "He's had armed robberies, marijuana possession, DUI. We are glad to get him off the streets."
As for De Valle, police returned her money but getting over the incident won't be that easy.
"I feel unsafe and nervous," said De Valle. "Last night I could not sleep. I feel that something is going to happen when someone gets near me."
