Arrest Made In Deadly Burglary Attempt
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A man wanted for a Hallandale Beach burglary in which one person was killed and a second injured is in custody.
Frantzy Etienne, 29, turned himself in to Hallandale Beach police Tuesday afternoon.
Last Sunday, around 3 a.m., Etienne reportedly broke into a residence at 308 NW 5th Avenue. When Macarthur Smith, 26, who was asleep inside, went to check out noises he allegedly ran into Etienne who was carrying a six foot stick.
During a struggle between Smith, Etienne and two other people in the home, one of those individuals pulled a gun and fired in self-defense.
Smith, who was hit in the chest, was killed. Maria Smith, 29, was shot in the arm. She was taken to Memorial Hospital in Hollywood where she was treated and released.
After the shooting, Etienne took off on foot.
After his arrest, Etienne was charged with felony murder and armed burglary.
