Armed Men Attack, Rob Mother & Teenage Daughter
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Fort Lauderdale Police need the public's help to solve a violent armed robbery that left a mother and her daughter scarred.
Fort Lauderdale Police say the victim and her teenage daughter arrived home last Friday morning when 4 men -- at least one of whom had a gun --confronted them and demanded their purses.
The mother did not want to reveal her identity but she did want to share what happened. She says she had just returned home from picking up her teenage daughter from work when four men appeared from around a corner to rob them...
"They had the guns pointed at us and they said give me your purse," she said.
The woman said her daughter could not get her purse off quickly enough for the thieves.
"One of the guys punched her and picked her up and slammed her to the ground," the woman said.
The woman says the men stole her cellphone, money, id cards and other items. Police say that it appears the armed robbers fired several shots after the crime but no one was hit. Neighbors told police they heard a car peeling out of a nearby field after the crime.
The victim and her daughter want help to relocate. They say they work hard and have so little they cannot understand why anyone would steal from them.
"My daughter is terrified and we no longer want to be part of that neighborhood," the woman told CBS 4 News. "They could killed me right there in front of the front door and no one should be afraid to go in front of their front door."
Fort Lauderdale police want to find the thieves. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 954 493 TIPS.
