Armed Gang Ransacks Brothers' Homes Looking For Drugs

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Police are now looking for a group of armed men who ambushed two brothers and raided their homes in search of drugs and money.
Police said six black males carrying handguns forced their way inside the first victim's Miami home when he opened the front door, after hearing loud noises outside.
Once inside, the group began demanding money and drugs from the victims, who insisted they must have had the wrong house, and locked them in a bathroom.
"I lost my wedding ring and a bracelet," said Daniel Verela. "They turned off the bathroom lights and told us to get in there."
After the crooks were done, they forced the victim to go to his brother's house, near S.W. 118th Avenue and S.W. 206th Terrace, and knock on his door while they hid from view.
"I was sleeping. I heard a knock at the door. I thought it was my brother," said Edwin Arango, who opened the front door only to be confronted with the gang pushing their way inside, again demanding money and drugs.
"They grabbed me by the neck. I thought I was going to die," he said. "They put a gun to my head. They put me in the bathroom and asked where the money was and where the safe was. They asked where the drugs were but I said I didn't know of any drugs."
Children were also inside the home.
"This was like a horror movie," said Yuranis Nunez. "We were scared for our kids. They threatened to hurt my little girl. They took off her ring and held the barrel of their gun and said if you don't give it to us, we will kill you."
And still, no drugs were found.
"When it became evident to the subjects that the victims had nothing of what they were looking for, they placed both brothers inside a bathroom and fled the scene in an unknown direction," said Miami-Dade detective Robin Pinkard.
The thieves were able to get cell phones, jewelry and about $3,000 in cash.
