Aquarium Leak At Gulfstream Park Closes Casinos
HALLANDALE BEACH (CBSMiami) – Both of the casinos at Gulfstream Park were closed on Sunday after a large fish tank sprung a leak overnight.
Gulfstream Park spokesman David Joseph said the facility sustained water damage after a tank located on the second level leaked around 12:30 a.m. Patrons in the casino hear a crack and pop and then saw a flood of water. It's estimated that 10,000 of the tanks 13,000 gallons of water leaked out before employees could stem the flow with rags.
Joseph said all the fish inside the tank were saved.
There is water damage on both the first and second floors. Crews were working to dry the floors and equipment with fans and dehumidifiers. The casinos will like be closed over their normally Labor Day holiday.
There is no word on when they will re-open.
