Another Breezy, Slightly Soggy Day On Tap
MIAMI (CBS4) – Thursday got off to a wet and mess start with showers blowing across much of South Florida.
CBS4 meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez said the bulk of the rain rolled over Broward County, a few areas picked up over half an inch of rain from heavy downpours.
Miami-Dade and Monroe counties also dealt with some wet weather which led to slick conditions on the roads and highways. It wouldn't be a bad idea to keep an umbrella handy since we will see about a 30% chance of rain throughout the day.
Gonzalez said high pressure over in the Western Atlantic is providing an Easterly breeze and short wave moving across Central Florida will create scattered showers throughout the day. The winds will not be as strong as on Wednesday, but it will still be breezy with some higher wind gusts. The rip current risk remains high, which means it is still best to avoid swimming. A Small Craft Advisory is in place due to 4 to 7 foot seas and a moderate chop on the bays.
Thursday will be mostly to partly cloudy with a high around 80 degrees. As high pressure moves to the East, Gonzalez said the winds will lighten up a bit on Friday and some drier air should settle in to decrease our rain chance. This weekend, however, the breeze will build back in with highs in the low 80s and plenty of sunshine.
