MELBOURNE (CBSMiami/AP) — Someone spread some holiday help in the form of $10,000 dropped into various Salvation Army Red Kettles in Florida.

The donation came Tuesday and was spread among the kettles from Viera to Cocoa Beach.

Florida Today reported Salvation Army officials believe the money came from a single source. The amounts ranged from $500 to $1,000 per kettle.

The donations generated a lot of excitement for bell ringers, who typically see smaller denominations.

The Salvation Army's Capt. Angel Calderon says the money will go a long way in helping local families during the holidays.
