Anna Nicole Judge Settles Civil Case
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami.com) – Former Broward Circuit Judge Larry Seidlin came to fame in the Anna Nicole Smith case, but it's the settlement of another case involving Seidlin that has thrust his name back into the spotlight.
Seidlin was accused of "fleecing a wealthy, widowed neighbor of money and property worth hundreds of thousands of dollars,' according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
The family of Barbara M. Kasler sued Seidlin, but a confidential settlement was reached and signed off on by both parties in September and October, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
Kasler's family said Seidlin struck up a friendship with Kasler and then began trying to take her money and hijack her estate. State investigators twice cleared Seidlin of exploiting Kasler, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
Kasler said she liked the Seidlins and gave them gifts. She also said she freely paid the tuition for Seidlin's daughter to attend a private school, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
Seidlin's attorney told the Sun-Sentinel the case was settled but wouldn't confirm a settlement.
