Amtrak Train Crashes Into Dump Truck Outside Orlando
ORLANDO (CBSMiami) – A Miami-bound Amtrak train from New York crashed into a dump truck just south of Orlando Thursday morning, according to CBS Orlando affiliate, WKMG-TV.
The driver of the dump truck was killed and some of the 139 passengers on the train were injured, but WKMG reported that details of the number of injured wasn't known. A number of passengers were taken to area hospitals with what are believed to be minor injuries.
The Amtrak train, Silver Star #91, left Penn Station in New York Wednesday morning and was supposed to arrive in Miami at 6:05 Thursday evening. Instead, Amtrak said passengers will be bused to their destinations.They were taken to a nearby church as the train was unloaded.
According to WKMG, the dump truck exploded right after the crash.
