MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Police cancelled an Amber Alert Sunday night after searching all day for a one-year-old Miami boy and his mother.
Authorities found Logan Hernandez and his mother, Leydibet Hernandez, in Texas.
Those who live at the Miami home off S.W. 26th Street and 34th Court, where Logan disappeared overnight, weren't saying much. A man told CBS4's Donna Rapado that the boy's caretaker checked on him as he slept in the middle of the night to find he was gone.
Police suspected Logan's mother had taken him.
By Sunday morning, they'd put out an Amber Alert looking for mother and son. By Sunday evening, they were found safe in Laredo, Texas -- bordering Mexico.
Police said Logan's mother recently lost custody, or feared she would lose custody of him for reasons that remain unclear.
Hernandez's former mother-in-law said she was a good, hard-working person. She hadn't spoken to Hernandez since 2012 and was surprised to hear of the incident.
U.S. Marshalls will extradite Hernandez back to Miami.
