Alleged SoBe Club Stabber Faces Judge
MIAMI - (CBS4) - A man accused of stabbing another man at Nikki Beach over the weekend faced a bond court judge Tuesday.
Police say 24-year-old Markus Belser inappropriately touched a woman during the early hours of Monday, August 15th. The woman was with friends at Nikki Beach on 1 Ocean Drive.
One of the men who was with the woman, Richard Montella, confronted Belser about the alleged incident and Belser backed off.
About 10 minutes later, Belser returned. This time, police say, he was armed with a folding knife. That's when the two men began to fight. During the altercation, Belser allegedly stabbed Montella on the right side of his body. Montella is expected to recover from the wound.
Belser fled, but police caught up with him moments later. Witnesses identified Belser as Montella's attacker.
In court Tuesday, he was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and ordered held on $25,000 bond and asked to surrender his passport.
