Alarm Clock Prompts Scare At Palm Beach Airport
WEST PALM BEACH (CBSMiami/AP) — A clock tucked away in a piece of luggage caused an 'alarming' situation at a West Palm Beach airport.
Authorities say a beeping sound was coming from a bag at the Silver Airlines ticket counter at the Palm Beach International Airport. The bag was unattended, prompting officials to evacuate the area on Saturday.
Airport spokeswoman Sandy Davis said that explosive experts were called to the scene because officials "deemed it needed more investigation." Officials later determined the bag had an alarm clock inside that was making the beeping sound.
Some flights were delayed during the investigation. The Palm Beach Post reports that the Transportation Safety Administration has found guns in baggage eight times this year at the airport.
