Airline Adds Two New Routes To Haiti's Capital
MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – As part of JetBlue's Caribbean expansion, the airline will soon fly to Haiti from Fort Lauderdale and New York.
JetBlue Airways announced Thursday that beginning December 5th they will offer nonstop flights to Port-au-Prince, Haiti from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, FLL, as well as New York City's John. F. Kennedy International Airport.
According to a statement from JetBlue, Haiti's consul general in New York said the service will help boost Haiti's economy and grant Haitian-Americans easier access and more opportunities to visit their homeland.
The airline says destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean make up nearly a third of its routes. It flies to more than 10 countries, including the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Barbados and the Bahamas.
