After Record Highs, Fall Weather Arriving
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - After a day where the record high was tied in Miami and thunderstorms swept through the Keys to Palm Beach County, Saturday is expected to see a change in the weather dramatic enough to say Fall has arrived in South Florida, at last.
The first fall cold front of the year will arrive in South Florida later Saturday, wiping out high humidity and temperatures in the 90's. Instead, the front will drop humidity significantly, and then drop the mercury noticeably, especially at night.
As the front moves through, South Florida nighttime temperatures are expected to drop into the 60's inland, a cool evening we haven't seen for months. Further to the north, west of Lake Okeechobee where the sugar harvest began Saturday, inland temperatures could drop into the 50's.
The drop in the humidity will make the temperature drop seem even more dramatic.
Friday, changes ahead ahead of the front helped touch off dramatic thunderstorms with intense, spectacular lighting shows.
Over the weekend, the front will bring breezy to windy conditions, and lots of sun, but with highs only in the 80's. The fall (for Florida) temperatures are expected to continue through midweek.
