A Soggy Start To Hump Day
MIAMI (CBS4) – South Florida got off to a very soggy start on Wednesday thanks to heavy rain overnight and wet weather in the morning.
Frequent lightning and torrential downpours slammed portions of Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. An Urban Flood Advisory was issued for East Central Miami-Dade County due to the downpours and the potential for more rain throughout the day.
Some areas have already picked up more than 2 inches already and with abundant tropical moisture entrenched across South Florida, the storm chance remains high throughout the day, according to CBS4 meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez.
A combination of the moist atmosphere, daytime heating and sea breeze, could produce some strong storms Wednesday afternoon. All the ingredients remain in place to produce scattered storms through Thursday.
Friday into Saturday a bit of dry air may move in to decrease the rain chance slightly. However, another weak wave may move in Sunday to increase the storm chance for the second half of the weekend. Highs will remain in the upper 80s with a few areas heating up to the low 90s this weekend.
