A-Rod Diagnosed With Strained Quadriceps
NEW YORK (CBSMiami) – New York Yankees fans wanting to see Alex Rodriguez back in the pinstripes, if there are any left, will be waiting a little bit longer after an MRI turned up a strained quadriceps muscle.
According to CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman, A-Rod has a Grade 1 quad strain. He had been projected to come back to the Yankees as early as Tuesday, but that timeline has been delayed at least a week.
A-Rod's spokesperson said that he was "extremely disappointed" with the results of the MRI. Moving past his injury, A-Rod still has another huge hurdle coming his way in the form of a likely suspension from Major League Baseball.
Rodriguez has been the primary figure in the Biogenesis scandal that implicated him, and more than two dozen other players in performance-enhancing drug use. Biogenesis, which was located in Coral Gables, allegedly provided PED's to players including A-Rod and Ryan Braun.
The windows for both Major League Baseball to suspend Rodriguez and for him to make a comeback are both closing quickly. A-Rod will be 38-years-old at the end of July and is still owed as much as $92 million from the Yankees from 2014-2017.
