Air Show To Soar Over Lauderdale Beach Again
FT. LAUDERALE (CBSMiami) – It's back.
After a four year hiatus, a new air show will take place in the sky over Ft. Lauderdale's beach.
On Tuesday, the city's commission approved a three year deal with Lauderdale Air Show LLC which plans to stage the first show April 28th and 29th which happens to be at the end of Fleet Week which runs from April 25th to 30th.
According to the promoters website "A four hour line up of some of the nation's premier military and civilian acts will perform at the event."
At this point it is too early to say if the U.S. Navy Blue Angels or the U.S. Air Force's Thunderbirds will take part in the show since they don't formalized their 2012 schedules until December.
Performers confirmed for the show are the GEICO Skytypers flight team and Rob Holland.
The show will be centered at A1A and Sunrise Boulevard where a display village will be set up. To help the promoter cover costs, the city has pledged up to $150,000 but only if the show takes place, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
After the show on Saturday, the promoter said they will have and 'After Show Party' at 4 p.m. and a beach party at 7 p.m., the locations for each to be announced at a later date. On Sunday, there will also be two after show parties. All of the parties will be open to the public.
