5K Run-Walk This Weekend Works Toward Happy, Healthy Kids
MIAMI (CBSMiami) — This weekend, you can make a difference in the life of a child, and it's easy.
Miami Children's Hospital is hosting Hyundai Hope on Wheels 2nd annual MCH 5K run-walk. There is a little boy who is playing a special role, eight-year-old Alberto Hernandez is this years MCH 5K "Hero".
"He is awesome he represents the beauty and strength these children come with" said Lucy Morillo-Agnetti with MCH Foundation. At the age of 4 Alberto was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma a type of bone cancer.
After multiple rounds of chemotherapy and surgery Alberto was cancer free, but nearly 4 years later the boy who loves to play video games relapsed.
Alberto is taking his role as MCH 5K Hero very seriously "It's going to be exciting for me I have never had so many people looking at me at the same time" said Alberto Hernandez as he spoke with CBS4's Marybel Rodriguez at MCH playroom.
"Alberto is great he is bright and brings a lot of happiness to a lot of people likes to touch the world whoever he meets it doesn't matter" said Nelvis Hernandez Alberto's mom.
On Saturday September 29 th, friends, family and strangers will donate and signed up for Team Alberto, and he is asking others to do the same.
