5 Tips For A Successful Garage Sale In Miami

The weather in Miami is warming up and you're itching to host another garage sale. Garage sales can be a great way to earn some extra cash. If you want to bring in buyers to take those outgrown items off your hands, it's going to involve a lot more than just laying belongings out on the grass. Consider these tips when preparing for your next Miami garage sale.

1. Take Inventory: Start by taking an inventory of what you want to sell. Consider looking through items that have been around for some time now and may carry value for someone else. Household items to include in your sale are clothes, toys, books, movies, appliances and unwanted old souvenirs. With a little bit of searching, you can find several items that will make a buck or two at the sale.

2. Organize: Organize your garage sale in such a way that potential customers can easily browse through items. Garage sales with messy display areas will surely be the first ones passed up by customers. They are hard to navigate and might intimidate people. Garage sale labels, signs and bins can make this process easier for you. Consider having some labels printed out that include a description of what you are selling and the asking price.

3. Advertise:
Get signs printed for your sale. The more advertising, the more successful you will be. Once you decide on the date for the sale, get your signs up days in advance. Flyers and calls to some of your neighbors might also help spread the word.

4. Reach Out: Consider listing your garage sale in the neighborhood newspaper. The Miami Herald hosts a classifieds section just for garage sales. Utilize this source to highlight your event for local Miamians. Another outlet for listing your ad is on the PennySaverUsa.com site. They list sales according to specific neighborhoods, and would provide you with local exposure.

5. Donate: What will you do with all of the items remaining after the sale? There are several organizations in Miami willing to take those leftovers off your hands. Make someone's day by handing off these unwanted items for others to enjoy.
