"30 Minutes Or Less" In Theaters, Promises Laughs
MIAMI (CBS4) - In the action-comedy "30 Minutes or Less", Nick is a small town pizza delivery guy whose mundane life collides with the big plans of two wanna-be criminal masterminds. The tacky two-some kidnaps Nick, straps a bomb to his chest and forces him to rob a bank. With mere hours to pull off the impossible task, without exploding, Nick enlists the help of his ex-best friend, Chet.
Nick is played by Jesse Eisenberg last seen in The Social Network. Chet is played by comedic actor Aziz Ansari.
"The film is dark, you guys are kind of pathetic, but it's really funny, and That's the goal, yes? joked CBS4 's Lisa Petrillo. "Yeah, we are kind of like that in real life- we are pathetic but we make you laugh!"
Petrillo asked Eisenberg, "It's a little different than playing Mark Zuckerberg?"
"Yes, this character makes minimum wage, Mark Zuckerberg makes the maximum, yeah, I thought it's similar to that character, being a cool character and a great interesting great story," said Eisenberg.
As the clock ticks, the two must deal with the police, hired assassins, flamethrowers, and their own tumultuous relationship.
Lisa told Ansari as soon as she saw his face the poster, she knew the movie was a comedy.
"As soon as my face shows up you say 'no way this is not going to be a serious film," laughed Ansari. "That's funny, and that's my job that's good!"
The bank robbery scene in the film is sure to make even a grumpy movie-goer giggle.
"They think they are in this cool slick movie like 'Heat', but actually they look ridiculous but in their minds they think their pulling off the coolest bank robbery ever, but they look ridiculous and apologizing to everyone for stealing their money," Jesse said
"These guys were leading pretty pathetic lives. They do nothing, they are not very ambitious with their lives, and they get put in extraordinary situation and then they realize, we can do anything, " said Ansari.
"30 Minutes or Less" is rated R.
