Around 5.7 million ballots cast in Florida in 2024 election
Around 5.7 million people — 41.1% of Florida's registered voters — have cast their ballots for the Nov. 5 election. Republicans are heavily dominating early voting and Democrats were leading mail-in voting.
Data posted on the state Division of Elections website Wednesday showed that 2,357,922 ballots had been cast by mail, while 3,340,065 had been cast at early voting sites for a total of 5,697,987. There are 13,845,913 registered voters.
Overall, 2,564,067 Republicans and 1,896,098 Democrats had voted. Also, 1,112,145 unaffiliated voters and 125,677 third-party voters had cast ballots.
Early voting sites opened Oct. 21 in most of the state, and counties are required to offer early voting through at least Saturday with the last day Sunday in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. The deadline to request a Vote-by-Mail ballot was Thursday.
In all there are 13,845,913 registered voters with 5,455,480 Republicans, 4,400,561 Democrats, 3,584,982 no affiliation and 404,890 third party.
In the 2020 general election, there were 11,144,855 votes cast for a 77% turnout of the 14,565,738 registered voters.
In the United States, more than 55 million people have cast their ballots -- more than 29 million early voting at polling places and another 25.9 million mail ballots - in data by the University of Florida Election Lab shows. With about 186.5 million registered voters the turnout rate is 29.5%.
