2013 Top 10 Local Sports Stories
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – With the year coming to an end, CBSMiami.com is looking back at the top local sports stories. From the Miami Heat's second-straight NBA Championship to the Miami Marlins' historically bad season; there was something for everyone this year in sports.
The Top Ten Local Sports Stories of the year was compiled by the CBSMiami.com staff and are made up of the most viewed stories of the year.
Perhaps the most infamous story to headline the sports pages across South Florida involved the Miami Dolphins and the scandal that erupted after offensive tackle Jonathan Martin walked out on the team and alleged harassment at the hands of other players, most notably Richie Incognito.
The entire scandal turned into a giant mess as allegations were made against Incognito, stories came out alleging rookie hazing and money issues, and it's still not over. Incognito has been suspended since the story broke wide open and Martin is on the non-football injury list and out for the season.

The Miami Marlins generated headlines all season long for their futility. The team was expected to be bad and lived up to that expectation, losing the second-most games in team history. Three different Marlins stories made it into the top ten this year and all of them didn't paint a pretty picture of the Fish.

If there was one team South Florida sports fans could be proud of this year, it was the Miami Heat. The Heat made a historic playoff run that saw the team taken to the limit by the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals and in the NBA Finals by the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs were so close to beating the Heat that the court had been taped off and security guards were stationed around the court to keep fans away. Even Heat fans had started to leave the arena during Game 6's final minutes.
The fans that did leave missed one of the greatest comebacks ever with Ray Allen hitting a three-pointer to send the game to overtime with just seconds remaining. Miami won Game 6 and captured a second-straight NBA championship with a victory in Game 7.
