2012 Hopeful Tim Pawlenty Headed To Tallahassee
TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) - Former Minnesota governor, and possible 2012 Republican presidential candidate, Tim Pawlenty will visit Tallahassee next Wednesday to speak with lawmakers, according to the News Service of Florida.
Pawlenty has been trying to build up his conservative credentials ahead of a likely run for the Republican nomination for President in 2012.
The visit by Pawlenty is the first of several such visits promised by Senate President Mike Haridopolos, who himself is planning a run against incumbent U.S. Senator Bill Nelson.
Haridopolos said he is inviting several potential presidential candidates to Tallahassee in order to let lawmakers know what they think of the Sunshine State.
If Haridopolos does run for Senate, he will have competition for the Republican nomination. Among those he may face are former Senator George LeMieux and current U.S. Representative Connie Mack.
There's no word if Haridopolos has extended an invitation to President Barack Obama to speak to lawmakers.
