2 Years Later, Lynda Meier Disappearance Haunts Police
HALLANDALE BEACH (CBSMiami) – It's been over two years since 40 year old Linda Meier vanished after leaving her Hallandale Beach condo in the early morning hours of June 4, 2010.
And while her disappearance remains a mystery, police are confident they will find out what happened to Meier.
"It's a giant puzzle and we continue to fit the pieces together," Police Chief Dwayne Flournoy tells CBS 4 News.
"But we still need the public's help."
A $75,000 reward is still being offered for information that may lead to an arrest.
Flournoy says it's been about five months since a significant lead came in but the case is still very much on the front burner.
"I believe this case will be solved one day. My hope is we will bring closure to the family."
Meier's best friend Sharon Solano says the whole ordeal is still very painful.
"I miss everything about her. She was a kind soul. She cared about total strangers," remembers Solano.
Solano keeps a picture of Meier close to her work station at her hair salon in Aventura.
She has a whole photo section of Meier on her facebook page and frequently posts information hoping it will lead to a break in the case.
Hallandale Beach police have established a timeline of Meier's disappearance.
They know she left her beachfront condo in the early morning hours of June 4, 2010 and then withdrew money from an ATM. Next, she is captured on a red light camera at the intersection of Federal highway and Hallandale Beach Boulevard going 'west' on Hallandale Boulevard.
Meier's red Cadillac Escalade with chrome wheels was found a week later at a parking lot in Opa Locka.
Police think someone may have information on what happened to the vehicle between the time Meier disappeared and when it was found.
They hope they will contact police or Crimestoppers.
Though they deny any involvement in her disappearance two men remain persons of interest in the case:
Meier's longtime friend Antwan Kennedy and 'his' friend Dallas King.
Kennedy was the last person to talk to Meier.
"We believe Mr. Kennedy had contact with Meier either in person, or on the phone or a text the morning she disappeared," says Chief Flournoy.
Dallas King is captured on surveillance using Meier's credit card at a bank after her disappearance.
After new information was provided, police last June did an exhaustive search on a large tract of land in Miami Gardens. Recently divers searched a pond on the property.
But with all that, there is still no trace of Meier.
June is always a difficult month for Sharon Solano because it's when Linda disappeared and her best friend isn't here to help celebrate her birthday.
"It's very painful I wish there would be some closure, that's all I hope for," said Solano.
