2 MIA Passengers Detained After Allegedly Carrying 'Illegal Items'
MIAMI (CBS4)- Two separate passengers found carrying "illegal items" at a concourse checkpoint were detained Tuesday morning at Miami International Airport.
According to officials, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a passenger identified as Vincent Sutherland was detained by Miami-Dade police after four boxes of 9mm ammo was discovered in his carry-on bag during a routine check at Concourse D.
Sutherland, 48, of The U.S. Virgin Island has no criminal past, according to officials. He was eventually cleared and was able to board his American Airlines flight to St. Croix without the ammo.
That incident occurred at terminal two.
The second incident happened at terminal three. The incidents at Concourse D occurred within minutes of each other and involved passengers who did not appear to be traveling together, according to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald.
Concourse D is mainly used by American Airlines.
