2 Killed In Turnpike Crash In Homestead
HOMESTEAD (CBSMiami) -- Two people were killed Thursday night in a rollover crash on Florida's Turnpike in Homestead while two others were hospitalized.
A child and a man who were sitting in the back seat were airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
They were ejected through the back window. Their conditions are not known.
The driver and front-seat passenger were killed.
The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the turnpike near 216th Street when the car veered off the road, crashed into a fence and landed upside down in a ditch.
Lanes of traffic were shutdown for hours but all lanes have since reopened.
The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating how the crash happened.
