Two Arrested After Burglary Calls Leads Police To Grow House
WEST KENDALL (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade police took two people into custody after investigating reports of a burglary and discovered a marijuana grow house inside a home in West Kendall.
According to Miami-Dade Police, neighbors called police regarding a burglary at a home at Southwest 137th Avenue and 71st Street.
"We heard sirens and helicopters and my wife heard one of the cops say 'get down', so at that point we knew it was serious and something was really going on," explained resident Eddie Valiente.
Once inside the home, police discovered a marijuana grow house where they recovered 21 marijuana plants with a street value of 50-thousand dollars.
The two suspects ran away but they didn't get far.
Police found Pedro Cabrera Gonzalez, 37, and Javier Chill Lovio, 36, and charged them with burglary and criminal mischief.
Neighbor Fernando Medina, who has lived in the neighborhood for years, was stunned.
"It really surprised me, So I was kind of scared. They are regular people, civilians just like me and ya know? It is a shock because I have been living here for 14 years, my whole life almost and I've never awaken to something like this."
Another neighbor said he isn't surprised.
"Grow houses are all over the place, I know that for sure because you hear about it in the news all of the time, but a home invasion in that neighborhood that's very quiet, that's scary because it's close to home," said Roberto Cuesta.
