2 Dead In NW Miami-Dade Lounge Shooting
NW MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) - Two people are dead and at least 5 others were hurt in an early morning shooting at a Northwest Miami Dade lounge. Police say one of the people killed may be the person who started the shooting, and a second person who may be involved was being questioned by police.
The gunfire started just before 3 a.m. at the New Frontier lounge, in the 5700 block of NW 22nd Avenue. Miami-Dade Police spokesperson Det. Roy Rutland said a man entered the lounge and opened fire on a group of people inside, hitting at least 5 people.
"We heard a lot of shots, a lot of shooting," one neighbor told CBS4's Silva Haripetian. "It was bad."
One of the victims died on the scene, and 4 others were taken to Ryder Trauma Center with gunshot wounds. All 4 are recovering from their wounds.
Police say there may be other people who were injured who did not require a hospital visit.
Rutland said detectives believe a second person who died in the lounge may have been the gunman, who they believe may have been shot by a customers inside the lounge. Police are still investigating in an effort to figure out the cause of the shooting.
The name of the gunman was not immediately available, nor were the names of the victims.
