2 Arrested In Biscayne Blvd. Motel Incident Appeared In Bond Court

MIAMI - (CBS4) – Two individuals arrested during the Biscayne Boulevard motel incident, including a suspected robber, appeared in bond court Friday.

Vincent William Chester, the suspected robber, appeared in bond court but his appearance was reset for Monday.  Thirty-two-year-old Chester, a disabled veteran, was charged with armed robbery and false imprisonment.

Bond for Christine Koester, the woman arrested on unrelated charges, was set at $17,000. She is charged with possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest with violence.

Chester was arrested Thursday night after wreaking havoc along Biscayne Boulevard during rush-hour traffic.

Police blocked off the area between 69th and 71st Streets as they searched for a suspected robber who was hiding out in a motel room. Police say he barricaded himself at the Saturn Motel, called 911 and threatened to harm a woman and a child inside.

The scene along the 7100 block of Biscayne Boulevard cleared by 8 p.m. after police were able to arrest Chester. He was wanted for a strong-armed robbery, police said.

The events unfolded shortly before 5 p.m. Police said they were chasing Chester when he darted inside a Miami motel room.

That's where he met up with Koester and her one-year-old child. Police said Koester was arrested on an unrelated charge and the child was turned over to the Department of Children and Families.

Police requested the SWAT unit to back them up.
