$2.2 M In Marijuana Found In Van In West Park
WEST PARK (CBS4) – Like something out of the movie, "Dude, Where's My Car,", the owner of a van found in a Broward parking lot is probably saying, "Dude, Where's My Pot?" The answer is in BSO custody after deputies found 38 bales of marijuana in a van parked in a Home Depot parking lot at 1951 S. State Road 7 in West Park.
Someone called deputies to complain about the van that was parked across several parking spots. Deputies inspected the exterior of the van and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside.
Peeking through the window, all they could see was a blue tarp covering a large bundle.
BSO drug detection dogs were called out to the scene and also alerted to the scent. An inspection of the van revealed it contained almost 40 large bags full of marijuana. The total load has an estimated retail value of about $2.2 million. Investigators are currently trying to track down the origin of the drugs, as well as the owner.
Anyone with information about the drugs or the owner is asked to contact the Broward Sheriff's Office at 954-765-4321 or Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or www.browardcrimestoppers.org.
