$16 Million Powerball Ticket Bought In Florida Now Worthless
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) - Sitting on a Powerball ticket you purchased in May at a convenience store in Tampa? Well you may have, or actually, had the winning ticket.
The winning ticket for a drawing on Saturday, May 25, was rendered worthless as of Friday, according to Florida Lottery officials.
The could-be winner had a total of 180 days to cash-in on the $16 million jackpot.
The ticket, with the winning numbers 02, 06, 19, 21, 27 and a Powerball of 25, was purchased at the Carrollwood Market.
Lottery officials say the money will be distributed throughout the states that participate in Powerball. Most of the money that comes back to Florida will be allocated to public education.
The unclaimed ticket was one of three winners that split a $50 million jackpot. The other two winning tickets were sold in Delaware and Louisiana.
