$10.9M Worth Of Counterfeit Burberry, Vuitton Seized At Port Miami
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – When you can buy high-priced, brand name merchandise for cheap prices, it means it's probably fake and more than $10 million worth of fake brand name merchandise won't be sold in South Florida or anywhere else after being seized at Port Miami.
The $10.9 million worth of counterfeit merchandise arrived in a shipment from China, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection which discovered the illegal cargo on June 8th.
The shipment contained counterfeit Louis Vuitton and Burberry clothing, jewelry, scarves and other items, according to CBP officials.
"One of CBP's missions is keeping counterfeit goods from reaching the American public and infiltrating our marketplace," said U.S. Customs and Border Protection Director of Field Operations Vernon T. Foret. "CBP and ICE HSI are committed to working together to prevent the influx of counterfeit merchandise into our country" he added.
