1 Dead, 1 Injured After Driver Strikes Median On I-95
DAVIE (CBS4)- A driver traveling on northbound Interstate 95 was killed and his passenger was injured after he lost control and struck the center concrete median wall.
The Florida Highway Patrol said 28-year-old Villard Josaphat of Greenacres, Florida was traveling on the I-95 near Commercial Boulevard just before 11 p.m. Friday when his 2005 box truck hit the wall. The truck continued along the top of the wall before it struck a light pole.
The truck came to rest on its left side on top of the wall straddling the north and southbound lanes of I-95. Josaphat was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 28-year-old Ricardo Salinas of West Palm Beach, was transported to North Broward Medical.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The FHP is investigating to see if the crash was an alcohol related incident.
