U.S. Olympic swim team performs "Call Me Maybe"
It's the catchiest song of the year. Seemingly everywhere you go, someone is playing Carly Rae Jepsen's pop super-smash "Call Me Maybe." And why not? The 26-year-old Jepsen clearly has an ear for infectious hooks, and the breezy, summer fun of "Call Me Maybe" is something everyone can get behind.
One example (out of the many, many examples floating around the Internet) comes from the U.S. Olympic swim team. With the London Olympics games about to begin, the swim team took a break from all their preparation to have a little fun. This one's for all you Ryan Lochte super-fans out there.

Sesame Street's Cookie Monster sings "Share It Maybe"
We all know what makes Cookie Monster crazy. So when Sesame Street - which often covers popular music for educational purposes - decided to take a turn on the "Call Me Maybe" tribute bandwagon, of course they made it about cookies. Like with everything the children's program legends create, the lyrics are deceptively clever, and also carry a nice message. If you happen to have a cookie, Share It Maybe?

Marines in Afghanistan cover "Call Me Maybe"
The men and women in uniform need something to keep morale up while serving dangerous duty overseas. It's no surprise that, at least this summer, that something is Carly Rae Jepsen. A Marine unit in Afghanistan took some time out from their busy days to make this awesome tribute to "Call Me Maybe."
Photographer Eric Raum, who put together this video, had this to say on his blog: "I wanted to note here that this didn't cost anything to make, was filmed on a lunch break, and had a great impact on the morale of not only the service members in the video, but those we've shared it with since. It is important to take a break and have some fun every once and a while, whether you're back in the states hanging with friends and family, or serving your country under the unrelenting Afghanistan sun."

Do I even need to tell you what that fun entailed? Because that would be crazy.

Pomplamoose mash-up of "Call Me Maybe" and "Somebody That I Used to Know"
The only other song that approaches "Call Me Maybe" levels of ubiquity this year is Gotye's breakup anthem "Somebody That I Used to Know." So, it was only a matter of time before some enterprising musicians combine the two. The songs go together surprisingly well, thanks in no small part to the musicianship of songwriters Pomplamoose. Their unique mash-up, called "Do Not Push," is a best-of-both-worlds video that will probably leave both songs swirling around your head for the rest of the day.
