Seven quirky emails from Hillary Clinton
Not much was revealed about Hillary Clinton's policies as secretary of state from the latest release of her emails during her State Department tenure. The emails, however, did give some interesting insight into the daily life of the nation's chief diplomat.
The nearly 8,000 pages of Clinton's emails that the State Department released Monday mostly cover her correspondence in 2012 and 2013, though some date back as far as 2009. Here's a look at seven of the quirkier ones:
"Mittens" and "Grinch"
From Hillary Clinton, sent January 22, 2012, referring to GOP 2012 candidates Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich:
"If Mittens can't beat Grinch in Florida, there will be pressure on state Republican parties to reopen or liberalize ballot access especially in the caucuses, which as we know are creatures of the parties' extremes."
Re: Stupid question
From Hillary Clinton, sent October 7, 2012 to State Department official Philippe Reines:
"Hey, I need some help: Do you know what channel on the TV in DC is the program listing? And, specifically, what channel number is Showtime?"
"Because I want to watch 'Homeland'"
1st Daughters
From State Department official Philippe Reines, sent August 20, 2012 to Hillary and Chelsea Clinton:
"Long story as to why I thought to research this, but here's another historical trend working against Mitt Romney and his brood of only sons: it has been half a century since we've had a President without a daughter. It's happened only once in the past 80 years."
Hopeless liberals the world over
From Hillary Clinton, sent Dec 12, 2012 to friend Sidney Blumenthal:
"Why are liberals the world over so politically hopeless?"
A "cracked head," the "Nfl commish" and a GOP leader
From State Department official Philippe Reines, sent December 24, 2012 to Hillary Clinton regarding her concussion:
"And speaking of your cracked head, I reached out to both the Nfl commish (I remembered that his dad held your Senate seat) and Bill Frist. Frist responded wonderfully and is ready to help."
Mansplainer
From Clinton confidante Sidney Blumenthal, sent January 24, 2013 to Hillary Clinton, regarding her testimony before the House Benghazi Committee:
Subject: H: FYI, best analysis so far of hearing. Sid

Clinton's response: "Loved them!"
"Pls respond to Bon Jovis"
From singer-songwriter Jon Bon Jovi's wife Dorothea Hurley, sent January 3, 2013 to Chelsea Clinton:
"Dear Chelsea, Jon and I have been thinking about your family since we heard about your Mom's health issues. We hope she is doing well and that she recovers fully. We are sending you all a big hug."
From Chelsea to Hillary Clinton: "so nice from the bon jovis"
From Hillary to Chelsea Clinton: "Pls respond to Bon Jovis."
